Image Resizer
Resize JPG, PNG, and WebP images by pixels in your browser, with optional aspect-ratio lock.
About this tool
An image resizer changes the pixel dimensions of a photo — to fit a profile picture, a banner, a document, or an upload limit. This tool resizes JPG, PNG, and WebP images right in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and your photo stays private.
How to resize an image
Choose a file and the current dimensions appear. Type a new width or height in pixels — with Lock aspect ratio on, the other dimension adjusts automatically so the image doesn't stretch. Turn the lock off to force an exact width and height. Click resize, preview the result, and download.
Common sizes people resize to
- Profile photos and avatars (e.g. 400 × 400px).
- Social banners and cover images.
- Passport- or form-style dimensions for online portals.
- Smaller dimensions to cut down file size for email.
Resizing keeps the original format where it matters — PNG and WebP stay themselves to preserve transparency, while other images are saved as JPG. To shrink the file further, follow up with the Image Compressor; to change format, use the Image Converter.
Frequently asked questions
Does resizing happen on a server?
No. The image is resized in your browser with the Canvas API and is never uploaded, so it stays completely private.
How do I resize without stretching the image?
Keep "Lock aspect ratio" turned on. When you change the width, the height updates automatically (and vice versa) so the proportions stay correct.
Can I resize to exact dimensions?
Yes. Turn off the aspect-ratio lock and enter the exact width and height you need. Note this may stretch the image if the ratio differs from the original.
What formats can I resize?
JPG, PNG, and WebP. PNG and WebP keep their format to preserve transparency; other formats are saved as JPG.
Will resizing reduce the file size?
Making an image smaller in pixels usually reduces the file size too. For finer control over file size, use the Image Compressor afterwards.
