Crop Image
Crop a photo by dragging a selection or by aspect ratio, all in your browser. Nothing uploaded.
About this tool
Cropping trims away the parts of a photo you don't want and keeps the bit that matters โ tightening a portrait, squaring a product shot, or cutting an image to a specific aspect ratio. This cropper works entirely in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.
How to crop an image
Choose a photo, then drag a box over the part you want to keep. Prefer a fixed shape? Tap an aspect-ratio preset โ 1:1 for profile pictures and Instagram posts, 4:3 for classic photos, or 16:9 for thumbnails and banners โ and a centred selection appears. Click crop and download the result.
Common uses
- Square profile pictures for WhatsApp, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
- 16:9 crops for YouTube thumbnails and slide decks.
- Removing unwanted edges or backgrounds from a screenshot.
The crop is rendered to a canvas at the original resolution, so you keep full image quality. PNG and WebP keep their format; other images save as JPG. To shrink the cropped file, use the Image Compressor; to set exact dimensions, use the Image Resizer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I crop an image online?
Upload your photo, drag a box over the area you want to keep (or pick an aspect-ratio preset), then click Crop and download the result. It all happens in your browser.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is loaded and cropped locally with the Canvas API, so it never leaves your device.
Can I crop to a square or 16:9?
Yes. Use the 1:1 preset for a square, or 16:9 for a widescreen crop. The selection is centred automatically and you can still drag to reposition.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
No. The crop is taken from the original full-resolution image, so the kept area stays as sharp as the source.
What formats can I crop?
JPG, PNG, and WebP. PNG and WebP keep their format to preserve transparency; other images are saved as JPG.
