Naira Number to Words

This tool converts a Naira amount into words — the way you write it on a cheque or an invoice. Type 1,250,000.50 and it produces "One million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira and fifty kobo only", correctly handling kobo and the "only" ending.

Where you need amounts in words

• Cheques — banks require the amount spelled out as well as in figures.
• Invoices & receipts — writing the total in words prevents tampering and disputes.
• Contracts & legal documents — amounts are stated in both numerals and words for clarity.

How to use it

Enter the amount with or without commas, and include up to two decimal places for kobo. The converter reads the whole-naira part and the kobo part separately — so it never loses a kobo to rounding — and spells both out, capitalising the first letter and adding "only" as is conventional on Nigerian cheques.
